You Get More intoxicated when Flying

Well, the blood alcohol level is the same as anywhere. Maybe the cabin pressure has some strange physiological effect. More like we’re just in a good mood for flying.

A Hole in the Plane will such Everything Out.

A Hollywood myth. It might be true for spacecraft. Decompression of the plane is an issue, that’s why the oxygen masks are there. A hole in the plane is an emergency, but the Hollywood uses far too much poetic licence.

Oxygen Masks

The film Fight Club claims that the oxygen in the mask will get you high. This is simply not true, and even in the film this claim is made by a character who turns out to be a figment of another characters imagination. Oxygen will keep you alive and conscious till the plane can descend.

The Germs in Planes

The air in planes is filtered to be very clean. It will have very low humidity, so everything will be dry, but it is otherwise very clean. If anything the dry air reduces germs in other areas, which only thrive in damp, warmer conditions. Surface in planes are a different matter; like anywhere, you never know who used the seats and trays last. Use some sanitiser and wipes.

Opening the Door on Plane

This basically can’t happen when flying. Apart from the many safety features the doors are designed to open inward. As the outside pressure is so low the amount of strength required to pull the door open at any reasonable high is more than several people could manage.

Planes Dumping Sewage

This is a total myth, its origin is unknown.
